Kaanapali Alii Review
Four 11-story buildings are laid out so well that the feeling of seclusion can make you forget you're in a condo complex; instead of tiny units, you'll be staying in an ample (1,500-1,900 square feet) one- or two-bedroom apartment. Many units have been upgraded with new furnishings and appliances; all have a sunken living room and a separate dining room. It's the best of both worlds: homelike condo living with hotel amenities—daily maid service, an activities desk, small store with complimentary DVDs for guests to borrow, and 24-hour front-desk service. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center; three clay tennis courts; upgraded pool area with flat-screen TVs, cabanas, and barbecue grills (stocked with plastic utensils and paper plates); spa treatments and room service supplied by the nearby Westin hotel; and signing privileges at the Westin, Marriott, and Sheraton hotels within the Kaanapali Resort.

What a beautiful place. The location on Kaanapali Beach is on Kaanapali Point where surfers and boogie boardes enjoy the wave action and guests from other hotels walk to because the beach is nicer in front of the Alii. Rooms are very large (1500 square feet for a one bedroom, 1900 for a two bedroom). Since the units are privately owned there is a significant difference in furnishings and decor. Although some units have not been updated since the Alii was built in the early eighties, most unit have been modernized. I would reccomend requesting an updated unit on the inner courtyard and perhaps being up a few floors for privacy and view.
Our unit had Bamboo floors, a fully equiped kitchen, two full bathrooms and bed rooms (even though it was technically a one bedroom. Washer and dryer. Also two flatscreen plasma televisions and a selection of videos and dvds. The beds were large and comfotable. The beach boys were very helpful with chairs and towels. Housekeeping did a great job.
The front desk check in and check out was quick and easy. I see nothing to complain about. I guess the pool is small and dated and does not have the "Pirates of the Carribean" look, that some of the other hotels in Kaanapali have. Also, there are no on site restaurants or bars, but everything is in walkig distance.
The BBQ and dining setup by the pool is fantastic. Grills are well maintained and BBQ utensils are supplied. It is nice not to have to eat out three times a day.
The Alii was perfect for us, we will alway stay here.
