Sands of Kahana Review

Meandering gardens, spacious rooms, and an on-site restaurant distinguish this large condominium complex that's primarily a time-share property, with a few units available as vacation rentals—those on the upper floors benefit from the height, with matchless ocean views stretching away from private lanai. The oceanfront penthouse, which accommodates up to eight, is a bargain at $495 per night during peak season. One-, two-, and three-bedroom units are also available in the rental pool. Kids can enjoy their own swimming pool area near a putting green and ponds filled with giant koi.

DO NOT Stay in a one bedroom unit -- No Air Conditioning

We are currently staying here. The resort is quite dated. The beach is nice, and the grounds are pretty ... but none of the units have air conditioning. All the one bedroom units are on the bottom floor and face the parking lots. They are noisy, and have little privacy ... people can easily see in your room. If you cannot get a two bedroom or bigger, my advice would be to stay elsewhere.

    Sands of Kahana Review

Chain Smoking Neighbor and no A/C makes for a bad combination.

This property claims to be smoke-free, but smoking is allowed by certain residents including the chain smoking residents directly below our ocean front unit. This renders the lanai (and the oceanfront rooms when the door and windows are open) of the unit useless for anyone wanting or needing to avoid second hand smoke. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that many units do not have air conditioning and the only way to cool the units off to a semi comfortable temperature is to have all of the windows open. Pick your poison.
