Spago
Spago Review
It's a marriage made in Hawaii heaven. The California cuisine of the original celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck is combined with Maui flavors and served lobby level and oceanfront at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort. Try the spicy ahi tuna poke in sesame-miso cones to start. Then see what the chefs-in-residence can do with some of Maui's fantastic local fishes. Finish with a little wild Lilikoi crème brûlée with white chocolate-macadamia nut biscotti. Oh, it'll cost you. But the service is spot-on and the smooth Asian-inspired decor allows the food to claim the spotlight.

We made a honeymoon sunset reservation through Four Seasons concierge 2 weeks in advance. Arrived on time, with at least 7 tables open on the balcony. Given one of the tables on the inside with explanations like "maybe those people checked in already." After half of the sunset was gone, we were given some place half way back on the balcony with some view of the sky. OK, poor treatment on my honeymoon is okay as long as the food's great. Well, the Tempura was roughly done with some funky Asian sauce (and I am Asian). I had better fried stuff at you local Micky Dees. Miso fish was a small mouthfull and not fresh. Pan seared Tuna was plain, cold, and not very inspiring. My pork belly tasted like four strips of uncooked thick cold bacon (with less taste). We didn't finish the meal. We didn't care about the money, but we wasted a sunset which could have been enjoyed better at the beach...with less crowd, noise and attitude.

Excellent experience, service, food quality and creativity. With many choices in the area we are still thinking of repeating before we leave.

We stayed at the Four Seasons and made reservations well in advance and were looking forward to trying out Spago. When we arrived on time many customers were already complaining at the hostess station about how long the wait was. We gave our name and they said we would be seated shortly, after waiting over 20 minutes, with no contact or promises to seat us soon or any apology we left and ordered room service. Other people said they had reservations at the same time as us they waited over an hour to be seated and then their food took over 1 1/2 hours to arrive. Terrible customer service and your reservations are not honored - they obviously overbooked.
