Four Seasons Resort Lodge at Koele

Fodor's Review:

In the highlands edging Lanai City, this grand country estate exudes luxury and quiet romance. Secluded by old pines, 1½ mi of paths meander through formal gardens with a huge reflecting pond, a wedding gazebo, and an orchid greenhouse. Afternoon tea is served in front of the immense stone fireplaces beneath the high-beamed ceilings of the magnificent Great Hall for a fee of $29. The music room lounge is a relaxing haven after a day on the Lodge's golf course or sporting-clays range. A long veranda, furnished with wicker lounge chairs, looks out over rolling green pastures toward spectacular sunsets. Pros: beautiful surroundings, impeccable service, walking distance to shops and restaurants in Lanai City. Cons: c an get chilly at 1,700-foot elevation (especially in winter), not much to do in rainy weather.
