If the conditions are right, you can see a natural blowhole in the reef behaving like Old Faithful, shooting salt water high into the air and making a cool, echoing sound. It's most dramatic during big summer swells, which jam large quantities of water through an ancient lava tube with great force. Vendors hawk inexpensive souvenirs and collectibles in the parking lot. You may find good deals on shell jewelry, but some vendors also carry exotic Niihau-shell creations with
prices up to $12,000.

The spouting horn is neat, but this is also a good place to see whales and sea turtles (and of course, there are chickens).
