Kee Beach State Park Review

This stunning, and often extremely overcrowded beach marks the start of the majestic Napali Coast. The 11-mi Kalalau Trail begins near the parking lot, drawing day hikers and backpackers. Another path leads from the sand to a stone hula platform dedicated to Laka, the goddess of hula, which has been in use since ancient times. This is a sacred site that should be approached with respect; it's inappropriate for visitors to leave offerings at the altar, which is tended by students in a local hula halau (school). Local etiquette suggests observing from a distance. Most folks head straight for the sandy beach and its dreamy lagoon, which is great for snorkeling when the sea is calm.
