Fodor's Review

This stunning, and often extremely overcrowded beach marks the start of the majestic Napali Coast. The 11-mi Kalalau Trail begins near the parking lot, drawing day hikers and backpackers. Another path leads from the sand to a stone hula platform dedicated to Laka, the goddess of hula, which has been in use since ancient times. This is a sacred site that should be approached with respect; it's inappropriate for visitors to leave offerings at the altar, which

is tended by students in a local hula halau (school). Local etiquette suggests observing from a distance. Most folks head straight for the sandy beach and its dreamy lagoon, which is great for snorkeling when the sea is calm.

Trash in Paradise

Stunning beach and excellent snorkeling. Too bad all the trash cans were overflowing~it was disgusting. Considering the popularity of the place, more trash cans need to be there and/or they need to be emptied more often. Regardless, if they are full, people should take there trash away with them rather than allow such a stunningly beautiful place to be littered. Another disturbing thing here: people were STANDING on the coral reef~there needs to be

more education/signage here on the fact that standing on the reef KILLS and/or damages it. Sad, sad.....

This is a beautiful beach. Views from the trail are spectacular, even if you only hike the first mile.

Don't miss it!

Ke'e beach is the best beach on Kauai! Spectacular views of the Na Pali coast. We were there in November but, while a little rough, you could still snorkel and swim.
