Kukui's Restaurant and Bar

Updated 01/24/2014

Fodor's Review

The meals at Kukui's feature Hawaiian, Asian, and contemporary American influences, and the open-air setting makes it a pleasant place to dine. It's very spacious, and not as busy and noisy as the other eateries at the Marriott, making it well-suited to families and those who want a relaxed setting. The menu includes slow-roasted prime rib, fresh fish, and pasta dishes. You can also order from the Toro Tei sushi bar, or from the bar menu. A full breakfast buffet is offered

every morning, or choose from the à la carte menu.

Great Buffets

Sunday Champagne Brunch, Friday or Saturday night seafood buffet and daily breakfast buffet were all very good. You couldn't eat breakfast there every day, but you can splurge occasionally. We also had a sandwich there one afternoon, that was very good. The service was exceptional every time.

expensive, but good breakfasts

We ate breakfast here almost everyone morning, mostly because it was convenient. Yes, the prices are way too high, but there are some values on the menu: I had a huge bowl of oatmeal with raisins and bananas every morning -- quite good for about $5.00.

Maybe not for cats, but how about the birds?

Very unimpressive, especially since this is the best Marriott has to offer (Duke's isn't operated by Marriott). After spending $35 for lunch at Kukui's, complete with birds fighting over crumbs on the table, my wife and I didn't give this place a second chance. I suggest you don't even give them a first. (but the Tai Chi was pretty good!)
