This spacious, low-key restaurant is almost like two eateries in one. Hearty American fare, including burgers and 2-pound buckets of steamer clams bathed in white wine, garlic, and herbs, is served in the bar and dining room downstairs. On sunny afternoons, ask for a table on the lanai overlooking Kalapaki Bay and try one of the generous salads. Upstairs you can feast on fancier Pacific Rim dishes, including sugarcane shrimp and Peking chicken tacos in a garlic oyster sauce. The house specialty is Slavonic steak, a broiled sliced tenderloin dipped in a buttery wine sauce. Although the restaurant is open until 11 pm, making it one of the few places on Kauai where you can eat late, it's better for lunch for two reasons: the view, and the fact that dinner options are hit and miss.
