Formerly known as the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort, this popular oceanfront hotel was bought and refurbished by Courtyard by Marriott in 2005 and then sold to ResortQuest in 2006. The bright, spacious rooms face the ocean or pool and have been outfitted with modern amenities, including free wireless high-speed Internet access. Each oceanfront room has a large lanai. The 11-acre site has always been desirable, nestled as it is among ancient coconut groves and close to a coastal bike and walking path, shops, restaurants, the ocean, and the airport. Both new owners wisely kept the best of the old resort, including its sunset torchlighting ceremony. Pros: Convenient location, online room deals, pleasant grounds. Cons: Accessing highway from parking lot can be difficult, coral reef makes ocean swimming marginal.
