Tangö

Tangö Review

On the ground floor of a glass-sheathed condominium, Tängo's spare contemporary setting stays humming at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Scandinavian decor (there are Marimekko prints on the walls) comes in the form of blond and birch woods, earthy complements to the cloud-like hanging white lamps. Finnish chef Göran Streng has a couple of nods to his heritage in unfussy dishes such as gravlax with crispy skin and mustard-dill sauce, but the menu is by and large general bistro, running from bouillabaisse to herb-crusted rack of lamb with some Asian nods. Budget gourmands come here for the bargain four-course prix-fixe menus—just $36 and $45. Reservations are only available for dinner, and don't expect a super-touristy experience—Streng caters mostly to his discriminating city-dwelling clientele.
