What sets Ehukai apart is the view of the famous Banzai Pipeline. Here the winter waves curl into magnificent tubes, making it an experienced wave-rider's dream. It's also an inexperienced swimmer's nightmare, though spring and summer waves are more accommodating to the average person, and there's good snorkeling. Except when the surf contests are going on, there's no reason to stay on the central strip. Travel in either direction from the center, and the conditions remain
the same but the population thins out, leaving you with a magnificent stretch of sand all to yourself. Amenities: lifeguards; parking (no fee); showers; toilets. Best for: snorkeling; surfing.

I was also with someone who had a car broken into at Ehukai beach. After speaking with locals and the police, they say this happens almost every day. There are thieves likely watching the parking lot and surrounding area. You will notice a lot of young kids hanging out around the parking area and not at the beach. You may also notice broken window glass on the ground in more than one spot. The beach is great but not worth this headache. Do NOT park
here and if you must, don't leave any valuables in the car. Also get the rental car insurance if you are a tourist and plan on visiting this beach.

In broad daylight, on a crowded day, with locals pickniking right in front of our car--we were gone for 12 minutes to see the Bonzai Pipeline and when we got back the trunk had been drilled and our stuff was taken.
