Fodor's Review

Perched along the seawall at historic Gray's Beach, Orchids in the luxe Halekulani resort is open all day—it's a locus of power breakfasters, ladies who lunch, celebrating families at the over-the-top Sunday brunch, and the gamut at dinner. The louvered walls are open to the breezes, sprays of orchids add color, the seafood is perfectly prepared, and the wine list is intriguing. The contemporary menu of international flavors reflects the hotel's well-traveled clientele—you

can go around the world in one dinner, zigzagging from smoked duck carpaccio to marlin and Asian pear tartare to chicken tagine to steamed sesame pink snapper with shiitake mushrooms. Collard shirts are required for gentlemen. Halekulani executive chef Vikram Garg offers Table One, a custom dining experience within Orchids. He asks you your food preferences and makes culinary magic. It's not mentioned on the website—call to book.

Over Rated

The food was disappointing and the service was awful. They were arragant and acted very dissapointed that we didn't want dessert. I felt like they were implying that we were being cheap. We just didn't want any more of their awful food. We waited a long time for a table and we had made reservations ahead of time. Service was slow. We will never go back. There are so many terrific places to eat in the city that I won't waste my time at Orchards again.

Maybe a bad night

We were disappointed with the service and the food at this restaurant. Everyone said they are usually great, maybe we caught them on a bad night. It took a long time to get the servers attention and the support staff seemed confused about their duties. The view however was incredible.

Best Location on Waikiki plus Excellent Food

The Halekulani never ceases to amaze me. As if the Unsurpassed Le Mer dining room upstairs is not enough Orchids continues the near perfection downstairs. Location, equally perfect, Decor, less formal but still elegant, Food, simpler but perfectly prepared and presented. And the service, equally exceptional. I have stayed at the Hotel twice and dined at both resturants. The Hotel, Location and Service are preternatural. Go, relax, enjoy the music

and the Aloha. It really is Heaven on Earth.

A Memorable Evening

Beautiful setting along the waters of Waikiki Beach with Dimond Head in the backgroud made for a special evening. The Orchid was another surprise, leaving the hustle and bustle of Waikiki behind, creating a setting of tranquile sophistication. Their signature lobster bisque is a must, sea food prepared to perfection and service attentive and discreet. A refined oasis for those on leisure escapes, leaving the the insanity of Waikiki behind. I will certainly

return upon my next visit to Waikiki.
