Ke Iki Road runs parallel to Kamehameha Highway and is the site of this 1½-acre sloped beachfront lot with six duplex beach bungalows operated by Greg Gerstenberger and his wife, Annie. You can choose from studios to one- or two-bedroom units outfitted with breezy beach-house furnishings, individual grills and picnic tables, and access to a 200-foot strand of creamy white-sand beach running between the North Shore's famous Waimea Bay and Banzai Pipeline. Swimming is best here in summer, as the rest of the year the North Shore is slammed with monster waves best tackled only by professional surfers. There are outdoor showers, an outdoor meditation area, and beachfront seating for nightly stargazing. Ke Iki is popular with families for reunions and weddings. A bike path fronting the property meanders along the ocean to Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay. If you want more surf than street sounds, reserve one of the beachside bungalows. Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, great prices. Cons: A bit far from restaurants and shopping.
