Little Village Noodle House

Little Village Noodle House Review

Unassuming and budget-friendly, Little Village sets a standard of friendly and attentive service to which every Chinese restaurant should aspire. We have roamed the large, pan-China menu and found a new favorite in everything we've tried: shredded beef, spinach with garlic, Shanghai noodles, honey-walnut shrimp, orange chicken, dried green beans. Two words: go there. Reservations are accepted for parties of five or more. Two hours of free parking is available next door.

Great find in an unlikely location. We ordered a lot of items and they were all spectacular.

Food was very good. Great value. Very large menu. Service was attentive but it was Thanksgiving, so not vey crowded. Many locals, and takeout was popular.

Head to China town before the dinner rush. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent but it does get crowded. By far one of the best meals we had on the island.

After waiting about half an hour for a table for two on a Friday night, we ordered three signature dishes: the lettuce cup chicken ($8.95), the sizzling black bass ($18)and the minute chicken pan fried noodles ($8.95). The lettuce cups were good, but not great, with maybe some chopped pecans mixed in with the minced chicken and water chestnuts in a ginger tinged blend.
The sizzling and steaming presentation of the bass made us the center of attention for about 60 seconds, but unfortunately the sizzle was the best part of the dish. The fish itself was mediocre, bland and oily. While the dark black bean sauce looked promising it was equally flavorless.
We also ordered the minute chicken with cake noodles ($1.75 extra), but the sauce turned out to be bland brown gravy, not the red bead curd sauce that the menu promised.
While waiting for our table we noticed that the majority of people there seemed to be fellow tourists -- never a good sign in Chinatown. Next time we'll try someplace with fewer awards on the wall but better food.
