Fodor's Review

Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium. This Beaux-Arts-style, 1927 World War I monument, dedicated to the 102 Hawaiian servicemen who lost their lives in battle, stands proudly in Waikiki. The 100-meter saltwater swimming pool, the training spot for Olympians Johnny Weissmuller and Buster Crabbe and the U.S. Army during World War II, has been closed for decades as the pool needs repair. Plans are under study to tear down the natatorium, though a nonprofit group continues

fighting to save the facility. The site is closed to visitors, but you can stop by and look at it from the outside. 2777 Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki, Honolulu, HI, 96815. www.natatorium.org.
