Cafe Laufer

Updated 01/17/2014

Fodor's Review

Cafe Laufer. Ten minutes from Waikiki, this is the Island version of a Viennese café. At lunch people stop in for light options such as soups, Chinese chicken salad, and tuna sandwich. For tea time or post-movie dessert, try the classic apple tart, linzer torte, Black Forest cake, or chocolate macadamia-nut pastries. The dinner offers comfort-food entrées such as meat loaf, beef stroganoff, duck confit, braised pork shank, and an all-natural, locally raised rib-eye

steak. The café is open until 10 pm Friday and Saturday for a sweet nightcap. 3565 Waialae Ave., Kaimuki, Honolulu, HI, 96816. 808/735–7717. cafelaufer.com. Reservations not accepted.

Upscale neighborhood cafe

This little gem offers fresh salads, lox, crepes, sandwiches, a nice selection of baked goods and a variety of tea. They use quality ingredients and prices are reasonable.
