In a rustic-beam-and-concrete-floor pavilion literally on the sand, OLA's draw is its ocean-view location at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. In an area where a quasi-Mexican cantina is considered a big night out, this spot with reliable Hawaiian regional cuisine, led by chef-owner Fred DeAngelo, is a favorite standby. Dishes such as five-spiced braised beef short ribs with Kahuku corn relish or crispy adobo pork belly with mango chutney deliver bold flavors.

We had some trouble getting our GPS to find the restaurant address in the Fodor's listing. So we just headed to the Turtle Bay Resort. (We wanted to see another part of the island AWAY from Honolulu.) What a wonderful spot. You could truly arrive in beach attire. (Many did) So we felt a bit over dressed for the setting. But it's a lovely spot - RIGHT on the beach. (But they had large sliding glass doors to keep blowing sand away from your food.)
The FOOD was GREAT! A big surprise based on some food we've had on the island. Their dishes used local ingredients and had wonderful presentations. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Thanks Fodor's!

It was our late lunch after Shark's Cove. All of the food and drinks were fantastic. Thanks to Fodor's review. We will definitely go back there.
