After the long drive to the North Shore, it's a treat to while away the afternoon on the covered open-air lanai at Haleiwa Joe's, scoring a couple of cute souvenir mai tai cups, watching the boats and surfers in the harbor, and munching crunchy coconut shrimp, a fish sandwich, or the fresh fish special. It's just past the Anahulu Stream Bridge. A Kaneohe location overlooks lush Haiku Gardens.

Fodor's doesn't have a listing for the Kaneohe side Haleiwa Joe's, so I'll post my comments here. The Kanoehe location serves dinner and an awesome Sunday Brunch. The Sunday Brunch buffet is like $22 per person (cheaper than some of the places in Waikiki) and the food is fantastic. It's located in a beautiful open-air terrace overlooking the Haiku Botanical Gardens. Whenever we have friends or family come to visit, we take them there. They do
NOT take reservations, it's first come-first served.

If you haven't been to Haleiwa Joe's in a while, it's definitely worth a re-visit. The menu has something for everyone. The ribs are yummy! Thai Beef and salmon salads are flavorful and fresh. Friendly service, but the popularity of the place can make for quite a wait as they do not take reservations. A good place to check out the pro surfers in the winter.
