It may not be beachfront with a view of the sunset, but this eatery is worth a visit for its sophisticated izakaya (Japanese pub) food with a touch of local inspiration. Executive Chef Anthony Gonzales's dinner menu includes Norio's Original 69 Roll with Dungeness crab. There are excellent "sizzle plate" items like short ribs and New York strip steak, hot and cold noodle dishes, and, of course, outstanding sushi. Most people make a meal out of sharing several small-plate items to sample a bit of everything. For dessert, a tempura banana is drizzled with chocolate and caramel. It's best to make a reservation; you can also get some of the menu to go.
