An authentic German gasthaus right in the middle of Hawaii, Edelweiss is an anomaly. Fear not if you don't see anything you want on the menu; your server will rattle off 15 to 20 daily specials without batting an eye. The rack of lamb is always good, and anything ending in "schnitzel," "brat," or "braten" is a safe bet. Soup (which often sounds weird but turns out to be a real treat), salad, and coffee or tea are included in dinner prices. The wine list is decent, but c'mon, get the Hefeweizen. You won't have room for dessert with the size of their portions, but you're not missing much. If you're a potato pancake fan, call two days ahead and the kitchen will whip up a batch for you. Dinner is pretty consistently good here, but lunch is almost as consistently disappointing.
