Fodor's Review

For years, this 24-hour diner on Banyan Drive between the airport and the hotels has been a gathering place for Hilo residents and visitors. Breakfast is the main attraction: Ken's serves 11 types pancakes, plus all kinds of fruit waffles (banana, peach) and popular omelets, like Da Bradda, teeming with meats. The menu features 180 other tasty local specialties (loco moco, tripe stew, oxtail soup) and American-diner-inspired items from which to choose. Sunday is all-you-can-eat

spaghetti night, Tuesday is all-you-can-eat tacos, and Wednesday is prime rib night.

good food, good price

Food was good, service not to bad considering the place was packed for lunch. Regulars will get served first, but no big deal considering they are usually trying to get back to work.

Not a fancy place, but some tasty food.

Having family that lives in the Hilo area, we dine there quite often. The restaurant is fairly loud, so conversations can be difficult at times. I recommend trying their Loco Moco. They have several different types including the "Sumo," which is an enormous serving. In fact, whenever anyone orders it, the whole staff cries out "Sumo!" when it's ready to be served. Good restaurant if you have kids.

Just like Home !

pretty fast and pleasant service in spite of busy Holidays season. Great food at low prices(Pancakes,French toast, Kalua pig sandwich and Turkey were all above average)We returned for a second meal and still could not break the $32 total for 3 persons ! Amazing on this generally overpriced Island...
