Local produce, flowers, and food products are on offer every Sunday morning at one of the better farmers' markets on the island. It's not swarmed with people the way the Hilo market can be, but it's best to get there early, as vendors tend to sell out of the best stuff quickly. The revolving schedule of additional events includes "meet public officials day" (2nd Sunday of the month) and "arts and crafts day" (4th Sunday). There are also more prepared-food vendors at the Volcano market than Hilo, with such temptations as a gourmet picnic lunch, fresh-baked croissants and pastries, or homemade Thai food.
