Although on resort grounds (the first tee of the Waikoloa Beach golf course, to be exact), the Waikoloa Beach Grill is independently owned and operated by two accomplished chefs, Stephen Tabor (grill master) and David Brown (bread and pastries). The menu is literally all over the map, with well-done French classics such as the Coquille St. Jacques (a shellfish casserole baked with cream sauce and sprinkled with browned bread crumbs), traditional and tasty Indian curries, nicely grilled American steaks, and the best Bloody Marys on the island. Desserts are delicious and made fresh daily—the pies are outstanding, as is the cheese plate. Lunch includes entrée-size salads and huge sandwiches and burgers served on homemade bread. It's great value, especially given the skyrocketing rates of the surrounding establishments.
