With all the buzz about Kona coffee, it's easy to forget that coffee is produced throughout the rest of the island as well. The Hilo Coffee Mill is a pleasant reminder of that fact. In addition to farming their own coffee on-site, the Mill has partnered with several local small coffee farmers in East Hawaii in an effort to put the region on the world's coffee map. You can sample the efforts of all of the farmers, as well as touring the Mill and watching the roasters in action. The shop sells coffee and other locally produced goods. Even if you don't have time for the tour or shopping, the Mill's café is a great pit stop on the way to Volcanoes National Park from Hilo.

This was an impromptu stop on my way back from the Volcano National Park. The outside appearance got my attention but the people inside make the difference! Inside, the shop is very clean, displays are nice and not overly crowded with items. But the people... are so welcoming. It was not very busy at the time I stopped so I chatted with the locals and heard some stories that brighened my day. The aloha spirit is definitely felt in the Hilo Coffee Mill!

I learned so much about coffee. A great place to visit with family and friends. The homemade Portuguese bean soup was the bomb. I've shopped on their website too and am a lifetime customer. Thank you all for the great coffee, wonderful experience and fantastic customer service.
