Waimea Country Lodge

65-1210 Lindsey Rd., Waimea (Hawaii County), Hawaii, 96743, USA, Waimea, Hawaii, USA

Why We Like It

This budget-friendly hotel may not have much in the way of amenities, but it’s centrally located in Waimea, with lots of shopping and dining options. The vaulted ceilings really help to open the rooms up and the rooms with kitchenettes allow for longer term stays.

Fodor's Expert Review

In the heart of cowboy country, this modest ranch house–style lodge offers views of the green, rolling slopes of Mauna Kea. The rooms are large, with Hawaiian quilts lending an authentic touch. A handful of studios with kitchenettes are also available. Nearby shopping centers and cafés are just a short stroll away.

Room

Waimea Country Lodge has 21 rooms with four different layouts including deluxe, kitchenette, superior, and standard. All rooms have cable, a mini fridge, and free wi-fi, and most of the rooms feel fairly large, thanks to vaulted ceilings in most. Don’t expect luxury, but do expect reasonably priced rooms that are good for families and long-term visitors.

You Should Know A few of the rooms with carpet have a bit of a musty smell that can be hard to escape in a wet area like this. If you’re a sensitive smeller you may want to ask for a room without carpet.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are small to standard in size, with bathtubs and Calming Tides and Cerulean bath products.

You Should Know If you’re a light sleeper street noise and roosters that roam the grounds may prove to be a bit too much for you to get a good night’s sleep.

Lobby

The lodge’s lobby is small and unremarkable.

Dining

The Paniolo Country Inn Restaurant is in the same parking lot as the lodge. There, guests can find both Hawaiian favorites and cowboy classics like hamburgers and steaks.
