Fodor's Review

Overlooking downtown Hilo and the ocean beyond, this inn sits next to a 120-foot waterfall that tumbles into a 300-foot-wide natural pond—ripe for swimming, conditions permitting. Powered by its own hydro-electric facility, the compound consists of a main residence with four guest rooms, the six-bedroom Harmony home, and the three-story Pagoda Guest House, with a bedroom and 1½ baths, perched near the cliff above the falls. All rooms have private baths. There's also

a gym and workout facility. A full breakfast with Hawaiian fruit, eggs cooked to order, and Belgian waffles is served daily.

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls Review

I tried to make a reservation here on-line, but twice, about an hour apart, got the reply ""Http/1.1 Service Unavailable". I phoned for a reservation and the phone rang and rang without answering, and finally the fax machine turned on and blew my ear off. I sent an e-mail saying that I made a reservation someplace else because they didn't seem to care about my business. I'm not about to make repeated calls or check back in in a couple of days

to see if his server is back on-line so that I can give him my money. About 35 minutes later, Len Sutton calls me screaming, and tells me to "Go f___ myself" before I hang up on him. Now I understand why the place was advertised as for sale in the local newspaper. Do you really want to pay hundreds of dollars to be cursed at?

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls Review

we had pagoda guesthouse for one night. i have to discourage people to go there due to several things... 2 front doors of the guest house we stayed in both doesn't have lock on it, believe it or not, everyone can open the door from outside and get in the room at night! I was obliged to keep vigilant in the ebd at that night so barely wen to sleep. Furthermore, there is 1 inch to 2 inch wide gaps between the front door/screen door with the door

frame which let insects in the room at night. I got several bites at that night and it was horrible and sleepless. I communicated this to inn owner thru telephone and email but they didn't either acknowledge my complaint or offer any recovery plan. they simply denied there is no bug or mosquito in the room which is obviously a lie. besides, they promised they will send person to the house for cooking the breakfest, but they failed again. I was astonished at their indifference of guest experience.

Beautiful

This place is a bargain and the location is exceptional. Great view of a waterfall, one of the prettiest on the island. Close to Hilo but completely isolated. The owners are very nice but give you space and privacy. A computer and TV are available to guests in the lounge.

Gorgeous Private Waterfall

The highlight of this inn is the gorgeous waterfall right on the property. We hiked down to it one morning and were the only people there - truly amazing. We found the inn owner to be friendly and helpful - carried our bags for us and cooked a nice breakfast. You can eat your breakfast right on the lanai with a view of the falls. The rooms are not fancy, but they are comfortable. We thought they could have been cleaner though; one of our washcloths

had bright pink lipstick on it, and a vase of flowers in our room had mosquito larvae swimming in it. The location is somewhat remote - nice for those who like to get away from it all. For all of those who complained about the road, it is now paved - numerous signs point the correct way to the inn for those who arrive after dark.
