These A-frame cabins at the end of a long, deserted road, look like little birdhouses. Though recently remodeled, and managed by Volcano House, the cabins are definitely for those who are into roughing it. Inexpensive and clean, each has a double bed, two bunk beds, and electric lights, but no outlets. Bring extra blankets, as it gets cold at night. Each cabin also has a grill outside, but you must bring your own firewood. A communal bathroom facility provides toilets and hot showers for all cabin guests. Pros: camping in Volcanoes National Park, unique design. Cons: cold nights with no insulation, price is high for rustic cabins.
