With a bayside view in the heart of Historic Kailua Village, the open-air Hawaii location of the popular Monterey, California, restaurant has an expansive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with inventive fresh-fish specials alongside the fish-and-chips and clam chowder that the original is known for. The lunch menu is tantalizing, especially the seafood pasta entrées. There's also a comprehensive wine list, plus a happy hour menu in the bar from 2 to 6 and 8 to 9:30.

I'm a local person and don't mind spending big dollars at the wonderful resort restaurants. The Fish Hopper was recommended highly by two friends and my wife and I have gone twice -- both times the food and ambiance was mediocre to OK. Dave
