Windsurfing in Big Island

Windsurfing

Windsurfers will find good waters and winds in the coves and bays along the Kohala Coast. The surf is usually choppy when the wind comes up but not so much that windsurfers can't get out. Unlike surfing, windsurfing requires no paddling. Instead, you have to hang on to a sail flapping in the wind and pick up speed. Coordination and balance are crucial.

One of the best windsurfing locations on the Big Island is at Anaehoomalu Beach (Follow Waikoloa Beach Dr. to Kings' Shops, then turn left) in North Kohala. The beach fronts the Waikoloa Beach Marriott.
