Fodor's Review

This small resort overlooking the sea is one of the top golf and spa destinations in the country. It has the charm and feel of an English-country manor, with exposed ceiling beams, hardwood floors softened by oriental rugs, and your own private butler, on call 24 hours a day. The dashingly decorated rooms and suites have water or golf-course views. The lodge serves as the clubhouse for the Sea Island Golf Club and is nestled between Plantation and Seaside golf courses, the latter of which was inspired by the links courses of Scotland. Many of the courses feature views of the marsh or St. Simons Sound. Despite the name, The Lodge and golf club are on St. Simons Island; however guests do have full access to the facilities of sister hotel, The Cloister, on Sea Island.

Never been, can't afford it but it is UNREAL!

Having some friends who are members of Sea Island and we live around the corner from it, (3 ways to play: be a member, be a guest at the Hotel or play with a member as a guest) they themselves are in awe at the Lodge. It's an amazing place if you can afford it. If you do stay at the lodge, there are tabby ruins that are a must to see. It's off limits to the public ever since they gated the entrance. It's not a top destination in North America,

it's a top destination in the world.
