National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center

National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center Review

Located outside the gates of Fort Benning, this newly constructed museum examines the role of the U.S. infantry through every war in the nation's history. A must for military buffs, the facility has more than 30,000 artifacts, including weaponry, uniforms, and equipment from the Revolutionary War to the present day. The Family Support Gallery focuses on the sacrifices made by military families and features a children's area where youngsters can try on uniforms and sit in the re-created interior of a Bradley fighting vehicle. For an additional fee, you can test your skills at the very realistic Rifle Range Simulator that uses the same high-tech technology the military uses to train soldiers. The center also features an IMAX theater that shows both documentaries and Hollywood blockbusters.
