Savannah Shopping

Find your own Lowcountry treasures among a bevy of handcrafted wares—handmade quilts and baskets; wreaths made from Chinese tallow trees and Spanish moss; preserves, jams, and jellies. The favorite Savannah snack, and a popular gift item, is the benne wafer (from the African word for sesame seeds). These thin cookies are about the size of a quarter and come in different flavors. Handmade candies, specifically Southern pralines made with brown sugar and pecans, are a big draw with the little ones, or the "sweet tooth" teased by a free sample.

Savannah has a wide collection of colorful businesses—revitalization is no longer a goal but an accomplishment. Antiques malls and junk emporiums beckon you with their colorful storefronts and eclectic offerings, as do the many specialty shops and bookstores clustered along the streets.
