Within its own fiefdom, this major high-rise property with more resort amenities than any other property in the area—including tennis courts, a full-service spa, and a golf course—presides over small Hutchinson Island, five minutes by water taxi from River Street and just a short drive over the Talmadge Bridge. The adjacent Savannah International Trade & Convention Center is what keeps the hotel at high-occupancy levels almost year-round, since many meeting attendees stay here; leisure guests predominate on the weekends. A $10 million renovation was completed in 2010, revealing a newly swanky lobby and guest rooms. The Savannah Harbor Golf Course is open to the public and is the best bet for golfers staying in the Historic District. The island's ferries or water taxis dock at the Savannah Belles Ferry Dock in front of the Hyatt Regency. The first one departs from the hotel at 7 am; scheduled runs are every 15-20 minutes, with the last one leaving downtown at midnight. If you miss the last ferry, you can still take a water taxi for about $7. The rooms can come with Pilates and fitness equipment for an extra charge.
