Gryphon Tea Room
Gryphon Tea Room Review
Newly renovated, the magnificent decor of this old-time pharmacy would shame many full-blown restaurants. Shimmering stained-glass, stunning woodwork, and shelves now lined with books make this one of the most handsome and atmospheric settings in town, and the menu is now as groomed as the place. Delectable sandwiches and salads are the main bill of fare, and winners include the tasty classic chicken salad with mandarin orange souffle and the croque monsieur on challah bread. For more ambitious selections, opt for the ratatouille and shrimp orzo, served with locally-caught wild Georgia shrimp. Of course, this is the place for a traditional afternoon high tea, and few competitors can beat their expansive range of teas from English breakfast to Black Dragon oolong.
