Sushi Zen

Updated 11/12/2012

Fodor's Review

If you've had your fill of Southern cuisine, or you've got a craving for some sushi, then head to this downtown institution, a regular winner of Best Sushi in the local weekly paper's annual Best of Savannah contest. That's not surprising, as chef and owner Kazumi Yoshimoto focuses on fresh ingredients, creativity, and good execution, and his results are consistently delicious. Add in a nice ambience, with minimal design and a mix of seating arrangements only the beginning:

the crown jewel is the patio dining area, a wonderful spot to enjoy a pleasant evening, particularly in spring and fall (when temperatures aren't quite as hot). Check out the daily list of specialty rolls, and in case raw spicy tuna isn't your thing, there's also a nice selection of hibachi and noodle dishes. For those burning the midnight oil, Sushi Zen is open past 3 am on weekends.
