700 Drayton Restaurant

700 Drayton Restaurant Review

This is a one-of-a-kind Savannah experience that begins as you walk up the stairs of the former Keyton Mansion into a lounge that dazzles with eclectic furnishings like a Versace leopard-skin print chair, a suitable spot for a long power lunch or a romantic dinner. You will have a delectable meal made from regionally-inspired cuisine utilizing fresh local produce. As an appetizer, the scallops with asparagus and mushrooms with a vanilla sauce are sublime. The Moroccan-spiced rack of lamb is one of the best entrées, but the lime-and-whiskey-marinated snapper, pan-seared with herb grits and tomatillo/lime sauce, is also divine. Leopold's has made the restaurant its own luscious ice cream flavor, "Old Savannah." Breakfast is also served daily, and the Sunday brunch is a local favorite for special occasions.

I would NOT recommend this venue for any private functions!!! I was trying to plan my future sister-in-laws bridesmaid luncheon at 700 Drayton but was told you have to use a private room with parties of more than 9 people. They then charge you $250 rental fee plus require a minimum $250 food and beverage bill. The events manager thought she was doing us a favor by reducing the rental fee to $100 but refused to negotiate anything further. I even asked for something as simple as a champagne toast upon our arrival so I didn't feel like I was throwing $100 down the drain - a cost of $10 to them for a bottle of champagne but was told 'No'. We should have known this venue was a bad choice when they didn't even return the phone call of my sister-in-law inquiring last year about having her wedding there. This is now 2 missed opportunities for them to have made money from us. Do they really think this is the only venue in Savannah to have events at? They definitely need a reality check and need to learn to work with potential customers! Maybe once they see this bad review of their willingness to work with potential customers they will rethink that $10 bottle of champagne....shame on them!!!
