This upscale Southern charmer is one of the hippest fine-dining rooms in town, where local residents congregate and tourists join in conversation at the bar as they listen to the talented pianists. Reserve a window table for the best views of the Savannah River. The young chef, Jay Cantrell, is becoming a local celebrity and is among those aggressively changing the dining scene for the better. Much of the menu is given over to classics like steaks and oysters Rockefeller. Pan-seared scallops are freshened up with crab and Andouille sausage risotto, wilted arugula, and lemon herb truffle butter. Lunch is popular with local business people and upscale tourists, and seafood po'boys and Angus burgers are sought after, as are the daily hot specials. Praline cheesecake is still very much in demand.
