Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center

Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center Review

The Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center has an excellent small museum offering a timeline of the battle, a film on the military strategy that involved 124,000 soldiers, a collection of 346 antique military rifles, and a well-stocked bookstore. There's a 7-mi self-guided auto tour through the park, with numerous spots to stop and view the more than 700 monuments and historical markers in Chickamauga, and mid-June to September you can join a free, 90-minute auto caravan through the park, led by a park ranger. The first Civil War military park and the largest in the nation, it opened in 1890. ranger: email Rebecca_carcher@nps.gov
