Fodor's Review:

Simply put, this small resort overlooking the sea is one of the top golf and spa destinations in the country. It has the feel of an elegant English-country manor, with exposed ceiling beams, walls covered with tapestries, hardwood floors softened by oriental rugs, and your own private butler, on-call 24 hours a day. Dashingly decorated rooms and suites have water or golf-course views, and there are four stellar restaurants. The lodge serves as the clubhouse for the Sea Island Golf Club (though the name is misleading -- all of the facilities are on St. Simons Island). Seaside, the first of three courses here, was inspired by St. Andrews in Scotland and has breathtaking panoramas of coastal Georgia.

  • Hotel Details: 40 rooms, 2 suites
  • In-room: Internet, Wi-Fi.
  • In-hotel: 4 restaurants, golf courses, tennis court, bar, children's programs (ages 3-19), pool, spa.
  • Rate includes: European Plan
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V

Never been, can't afford it but it is UNREAL!

Having some friends who are members of Sea Island and we live around the corner from it, (3 ways to play: be a member, be a guest at the Hotel or play with a member as a guest) they themselves are in awe at the Lodge. It's an amazing place if you can afford it. If you do stay at the lodge, there are tabby ruins that are a must to see. It's off limits to the public ever since they gated the entrance. It's not a top destination in North America, it's a top destination in the world.
