A love of the environment is clearly evident at the Len Foote Hike Inn; a 5-mi hike of moderate difficulty (three hours each way), leads visitors to this backcountry pack-it-in-and-pack-it-out inn at Amicalola State Park. The inn uses solar panels for heating and electricity and recycles all organic waste. Although the inn has electric lights, there are no electrical outlets, and the showers and bathrooms are in a separate bathhouse. Rustic wood-panel rooms each have two bunk beds and meals are served family-style in the dining hall. Dinner and breakfast are included in the stay, and sack lunches are also available. Hikers must check-in no later than 2 pm at the Amicalola Falls State Park visitor center.
