When to Go
Atlanta isn't called "Hotlanta" for nothing—in the late spring and summer months the mosquitoes feast and the temperatures can reach a sticky and humid 99°F (thankfully, almost every place in the city is air-conditioned). July 4th weekend can be particularly hectic, due to the influx of runners for the annual 10K Peachtree Road Race. The best time to visit is in fall and early winter: when many other cities are beginning to get cold and gray, Atlanta typically maintains a steady level of sunshine and cool breezes. Airfares are fairly reasonable at most times of the year, given that the city is a transportation hub and most Atlanta attractions aren't seasonal.
