Cakes & Ale

Cakes & Ale Review

Fresh, seasonal veggies frequently take center stage at this crisp, upscale farm-to-table restaurant, and they often come from chef-owner Billy Allin's own garden. The roast chicken is a classic dish here. Or try the halibut with fregula (small toasted balls of pasta), peppers, pink-eyed peas, clams, and shrimp in a saffron broth. There's a large patio with plenty of seating and a view of the sleepy town square, for those who like to dine outdoors. The restaurant itself isn't open for lunch, but the nearby Bakery at Cakes & Ale is: it serves hearty grain bowls, sandwiches, and homemade breads and sweets. The bakery is also open for breakfast.
