This popular spot on the bank of the Chattahoochee River overflows with appreciative patrons nearly all day. In nice weather the outdoor dining spaces allow the best view of the river. The restaurant has built a reputation based on such dishes as crispy pheasant croquettes with brown-butter sweet potatoes and huckleberry sauce; seared mountain trout with smoked salmon ravioli; and slow-roasted rabbit with wild mushroom ravioli and Swiss chard. Sunday brunch—with smoked-salmon eggs Benedict, housemade English muffins with citrus hollandaise, and other offerings—is superb. The restaurant's tagline, "tucked away, not far away," is no joke—call for directions.

...and enjoy wonderful food in one of the nicest outdoor dining experiences in Atlanta. It doesn't get much better than a warm evening in Atlanta and the food matches the setting. This is where I bring out-of-town guests when snow is on the ground "back home" for the guests. An evening overlooking the river at Canoe is a memory making dinner they talk about for a very long time.
