Local celebrities and ordinary folks line up for the country-fried steak, fried chicken, and fresh vegetables. Here, in the Southern tradition, waitresses will call you "honey" and pat your arm to assure you that everything's all right. It's a great way to experience Southern food and hospitality all at once.

The go-to restaurant for Southern cooking. If you want a classic Southern meal and your mama isn't cooking, head this way. Browse the menu, choose a pencil from the glass on the table and mark your ticket for the fried and baked meats and long list of wonderful southern veggies. Try to save room for their banana pudding or strawberry shortcake. If you are going with a group, consider a Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer to start things off. I brought a group of out-of-towners in town for a Fodors GTG - and Mary Mac's is still what they talk about months later. An Atlanta classic is still going - and thank goodness for it!

I read the review from R and my visit was the same, except it was my first and last visit. We had out of town guest and I had heard so much about Mary Mac's Tea Room. I was very disappointed. Our service was not good at all and just as R mentioned the restuarant was not full at all but we were told they were very busy. The waitress returned to our table 3 times to tell us something that we had ordered was not available. It was very frustrating. Not to mention the food was not worth the price we paid.
