With 8 million gallons of water, this wildly popular attraction is the world's largest aquarium. The 550,000-square-foot building, an architectural marvel resembling the bow of a ship, has tanks of various sizes filled with more than 80,000 animals, representing 500 species. The aquarium's 6.3-million-gallon Ocean Voyager Gallery is the world's largest indoor marine exhibit, with 4,574 square feet of viewing windows. In the gigantic tanks you'll see dramatic white beluga whales, a favorite with many visitors, and massive whale sharks. Not everything has gills, however: there are also penguins, sea lions, sea otters, river otters, sea turtles, and giant octopi. As of this writing, the aquarium had announced plans to add a $110 million dolphin exhibit by 2010. Hordes of kids—and many adults—can always be found around the touch tanks. A cartoon show featuring Deepo, the aquarium mascot, is an extra $5.50 for adults and $4 for children. One-hour behind-the-scenes tours are $50. Cafe Aquaria serves sandwiches, salads, and other light fare. There are often huge crowds, so arrive early or late for the best chance of getting a close-up view of the exhibits. Purchase tickets at least a week ahead. Online ticketing is best, as you are e-mailed tickets you can print out at home.

A huge and first rate aquarium that stars whale sharks, beluga, otters, penguins, and sea otters, among many others. The center tank with the whale sharks is among the largest I've seen. Labeling can be spotty, but at some places there are employees describing the sea creatures -- much appreciated. This place gets crowded, especially on weekends. A must for anyone who wants to see an aquarium.

Was in Atlanta for concert & decided to take in the sites. The Aquarium is in its 4th year, had the Titantic exhibit running - all outstanding! It's a MUST SEE along with the Coca Cola Museum next door - buy the Pemberton Pass for discount on both facilities!
