Herndon Home Review

Alonzo Herndon (1858–1927) emerged from slavery and founded both a chain of successful barbershops and the Atlanta Life Insurance Company, becoming Atlanta's first black millionaire. He traveled extensively and influenced the cultural life around Atlanta's traditionally black colleges. Alonzo's son, Norris, created a foundation to preserve the handsome Beaux-Arts home as a museum.
