Even if you're not inclined to buy, the shops on Disney property are well worth a look. Across the board, they’re open, inviting, cleverly themed, and often carry items exclusive to Disney. Of course, you could easily pick up $100 worth of goods before you've ventured even 10 feet into a store, but you're better off practicing some restraint. If you see something you like, think about it while you enjoy the rest of your day (you might see something even better in the next store). But if you find you're still thinking of that beautiful stuffed Cheshire Cat or Cinderella snow globe at the end of the day, you can always go back to get it. And if you stay on property at a Disney hotel, note this perk: You won't have to lug around shopping bags all day. Disney stores will deliver your merchandise to your room for free.
A few tips: Don't let the price tags scare you off. Small souvenirs (key chains, pens, small toys, etc.) can be found at nearly every store for just a few dollars—a great option when considering gifts for friends back home. Just be careful with souvenir-hungry kids since many attractions exit directly into gift shops. You can try to be the voice of reason and ask them to wait—or try a different approach: Give them a lump sum to spend during the day and let them choose (and live with) their purchases. To find the most current list of retail outlets searchable by name, by theme park, and by resort, visit www.disneyworld.disney.go.com/shops. If you return home and realize you've forgotten a critical souvenir, call WDW's Merchandise Mail Order service at 877/560–6477.
Beware of sensory overload at the world's largest Disney superstore—where approximately half a million items are featured in a dozen rooms that fill 50,000 square feet. Theme shopping areas like the princess room (hello, Cinderella dress or Ariel costume) help steer you to just the right toys, clothing, collectibles, candy, housewares, photo frames, books, dresses, cookware, and collectible Disney pins. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, similar to the one at the Magic Kingdom, finds skilled stylists applying make-up, costumes, glitter, and magic (it's best to reserve an appointment).

Here you can build your very own droid, on a miniature scale at least. Upon arriving, choose between a BB-series (like BB-8) or R-series (like R2-D2), then select your own color scheme and accessories. Once built, droids can communicate with one another using Bluetooth technology or be driven by their owners with a remote control. Note that droids aren't cheap (prices start at $99.99), and, without a reservation made on the My Disney Experience app, expect a wait just to enter the store.

Classic board games and activity stations will keep you entertained in this well-stocked store. Theme toy rooms feature princess and fairy items or Star Wars stations, where you can create your own light saber. There are lots of games redesigned with Disney themes, like a Haunted Mansion version of the Game of Life. You can test-drive many of the toys, and at the Mr. Potato Head Creation Station, you can fill a box with assorted eyes, lips, noses---even Mickey ears---and make your own potato sculpture.

If you're an aspiring Jedi, plan a trip to Savi's Workshop to build a lightsaber. More intense than just a toy from the store, this lightsaber allows its wielder to choose different themes and kyber crystals, creating a truly unique design. Reservations are highly recommended, and be prepared for sticker shock: prices start at $219.99.

When you spy a LEGO sea serpent in the lagoon, you know you're in the right place for a LEGO shopping spree. Large, elaborate sculptures and piles of colorful bricks welcome children, who generally head straight to hands-on play tables and begin work on toy castles, cars, and pirate ships. At the Pick-A-Brick Wall, kids can create anything from a Star Wars spaceship to a miniature Sydney Opera House. Be sure to snap a photo with oversize character models like Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The discounted merchandise section is also worth a look.
