Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo

Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo Review

What were once three restaurants in a complex called Mitsukoshi (which is also the name of a giant Tokyo department store) have evolved into two restaurants, Teppan Edo, a teppanyaki steak house where chefs do performance cooking at 20 grills, and Tokyo Dining. Menu standouts at Teppan Edo include the New York strip, the filet mignon, and the Tori chicken breast. It also has a small sushi selection, and a kids' menu that avoids the typical mac and cheese, and instead offers Teppan-style chicken or shrimp with rice and veggies. Tokyo Dining is the part of the twin-restaurant operation that is more stylish and bustling and specializes in sushi, serving a wider variety than its neighbor, with the addition of tempura dishes like shrimp, scallops, or veggies. Both restaurants have something great to watch: Teppan Edo has the performing chefs; Tokyo Dining has a great view of the Japan pavilion.

We had 6 total days at Disney World, and we went to several different restaurants in the World Showcase in Epcot, but also other locations around the parks. Teppan Edo was by far the best of them all. The food was spectacular, the service was top notch (our drinks were never empty) and the entire experience was wonderful and entertaining. We were seated around a table with a big metal cooking surface in the middle, where they cooked the food right in front of us. It was delicious, and very good for any of those on a low carb or low fat diet (lots of choices!) The chef was very funny and all of the employees were actually from Japan, which makes me confident that all the food was authentic.

I would highly suggest this restaurant if you are looking for a very exciting experience. Kids would love it, and I talked to someone that was seated next to us that said it was the most fun dining they've ever had.

Also, if you're too busy enjoying the park to leave for lunch, I can't stress enough that the World Showcase is the best possible location to eat. You can choose from any of the countries for your food.. and all of the countries have employees that are really from the country they are representing. The restaurants are fun, festive, and extremely tasty.
