The Seas with Nemo & Friends

Fodor's Review:

Duration: As long as you like. Turtle Talk with Crush lasts 20 min.

Crowds: Heavy to moderate.

Strategy: If you have small children or Nemo fans, go early in the morning; the wait for both the new ride and the cannily interactive Turtle Talk with Crush will get longer.

Audience: All ages, but especially kids under 9.

Rating: ***

Hop into a "clamobile" and take a ride under the sea to look for Nemo, who has wandered off from Mr. Ray's class field trip. This ride adds fresh zip to an aging, but relevant, attraction—an astonishing animation projection effect makes it appear as if Nemo and his pals are swimming among the marine life of the actual Seas aquarium. As your ride progresses, Dory, Nemo's spacey sidekick, helps Bruce, Squirt, and other pals find him. After the ride, head for the Sea Base area to line up for Turtle Talk with Crush, starring, of course, Crush the ancient sea turtle from the Finding Nemo film. In this real-time animated show, Crush "chats" and "jokes" so convincingly with kids in the small theater, that some walk up and touch the screen where Crush "swims," eyes wide as sand dollars. There's often a wait for this cartoon chat, but it's a hit with preschoolers and young schoolchildren, as well as their parents. Take a few minutes to walk around the tank at the pavilion's core and check out Bruce's Shark World for some fun photo ops and shark facts with graphics, plus displays about the endangered Florida manatee and dolphins.
