United Kingdom

Fodor's Review:

Never has it been so easy to cross the English Channel. The United Kingdom rambles between the elegant mansions lining a London square to the bustling, half-timber shops of a village high street to thatched-roof cottages from the countryside. (The thatch is made of plastic broom bristles in deference to local fire regulations.) And of course there's a pair of the familiar red phone booths that were once found all over the United Kingdom but are now on their way to being relics. The pavilion has no single major attraction. Instead, you can wander through shops selling tea and tea accessories, Welsh handicrafts, Royal Doulton figurines, and English lavender fragrance by Taylor of London. Theme chess sets with characters from Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood catch the eye at the Crown & Crest. Outside, the strolling World Showcase Players coax audience members into participating in their definitely lowbrow versions of Shakespeare. There's also a lovely garden and park with benches in the back that's easy to miss—relax and kick back to the tunes of the British Invasion, a band known for its on-target Beatles performances. Kids love to run through the hedge maze as the parents travel back in time to "Yesterday." Check the Times Guide and arrive 30 minutes early for a bench or 15 minutes early for a curb.
